Load balancing has specific significance in busy networks, especially when it is difficult to foresee the number of requests that will be issued to a server. It not only increases the performance to servers, it also leads to their optimal utilization and ensures that no particular server is burdened. Wikipedia defines load balancing as “a computer networking methodology that distributes workload across multiple computers or computer clusters, network links, central processing units, disk drives, or other resources, to achieve optimal resource utilization, maximize throughput, minimize response time, and avoid overload.”

Load balancing facilities enterprises to-

* Deliver high performance load balancing and layer 7 content switching for swift and reliable application delivery

* Have a wide range physical and virtual appliances for SMBs

* Accelerates applications nearly five times more for any user

* Reduce server infrastructure costs by preventing server sprawl

Server Load Balancing

Server load balancing is the process of allocating service requests across a cluster of servers. There are many benefits to this process, these include:

* Enriches performance

It is when the processing power of servers are used intelligently, that the highest performance is achieved. End-user service requests can be directed to the servers that are least busy by advanced server load balancing products. This consequently results in quick response times.

* Generates Resilience

Server load balancing creates fault tolerance for back-end servers and high-availability pairs for load balancer resilience.

* Adds Acumen

Content inspection rules permits the sending of requests for specified web pages to particular groups of servers.

* Enhances Consistency

Failed servers are automatically identified by constantly scrutinizing the health of the back end servers. The failed servers can be detached from the cluster until they recover.

* Simple Usage

Server load balancing is easy to install and configure, and include a secure, web-based graphical user interface which provides you with visual alerting, health monitoring and cluster diagnostics.

* Better flexibility and scalability

Both enterprises and service providers need the flexibility and transparency to deploy additional servers quickly. Many exhaustive content applications scale beyond the point where a single server can offer satisfactory processing power.

* Better accessibility

Server load balancing has the ability to enhance application availability. In the event of an application failing, load balancing automatically redistributes end-user service requests to other servers.

* Reduced interference

Server load balancing also averts planned outages for software or hardware maintenance from disturbing service to end users. Distributed server load balancing also provides disaster recovery services service requests to backup locations, in cases where failure renders the primary site as inoperative.

As servers are expected to provide high performance, high availability, and secure and scalable solutions to support all applications at all times, server load balancing are a widely adopted solution to all performance and availability problems.

    Compute ccelys have become a commodity. Need more, just grab another box. I used to work day’n'night optimizing hardware utilization. No more. Now I’d rather optimize programmer time or operational efficiency. This shift is something that is hard to internalize without experiencing it for a while. But I do appreciate your comment and certainly appreciate your software – thanks!
